Biography

Unlord is a North European band existing since 1989. Unlord started out as a musical expression of some friends. They recorded three demos in a period of 6 years. None of those were ever available for sale. Their third demo got the band a deal with Displeased records. Unlord’s goal was not big publicity; they only wanted people to enjoy their creations.

In 1997 Unlord released their cult debut album ‘Schwarzwald.’ The band entered the studio again in the spring of 2000 to record their second album ‘Gladiator’, which was released in September 2000. The band recorded their third and last album in 2001. ‘Lord of beneath.’ Cover painting drawn by Petagno, whose work for Motörhead, Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd and Marduk is well known throughout the scene.

    Unlord were one of the very few Black Metal bands that got it right, the brutality was there, the intensity was there, pummling...fast aggressive raw & blasting Black Metal and on occasion even melodic keyboard oriented parts most noted on the "Swartzwald" album, without a doubt Unlord proved they were true all the way and there are not to many bands I could celebrate as much as them. HAIL \m/

    One would think Hell's Gates Are Opened is a savage and disgusting beacon of hope for the rest of the album but unfortunately Gladiator's pinnacle passes with the passing of the 2nd song...still a competent album however.
