About this album

Zooropa is the eighth studio album by the Irish rock band U2. Originally intended as an EP, it was recorded between legs of the Zoo TV Tour and released on 5 July 1993 by Island Records as a full-length album. Influenced by both tour life and the ideas of media barrage and irony from the tour, Zooropa continues the band’s experimentation with alternative rock and electronic music from their previous album Achtung Baby. Much like that album, Zooropa was critically and commercially successful. The album’s title is a combination of “Zoo TV” and “Europa.

Well I ended up listening to ZOOROPA - AGAIN!!! @hotterthanjuly POP z just lamo-o electronica album made by RnR brain. Its not bad, just "end of trilogy" where Achtung Baby started (great lyrics), ZOOROPA (Eno does best mood), POP (over the top record cant touch us). BUUUT... those theree could be made into sum damn good mixtape!!! WE DO WRITE A LOT! ;)

Ah, back when they still experimented. I'd say it's their most atmospheric album: good job on Brian Eno's part. And Pop is a worthy follow-up, dammit!

@EchotheSun That is soooo true. Imagine, they would eventually end up like Radiohead like version? Immersed in electronic sound but with stadium rock greatness... Oh well... Thats why back catallogues are for.

The point at which this band was on to something special, before they blew it completely, got scared and turned back...the last good U2 record.

Parts > Whole. Not bad, but Achtung Baby and Pop are better.

I never got excited about this one. It's an interesting album with lots of good songs, fascinating ideas and compositions. That being said, it's also a bit boring. I understand why so many people love this one, I just don't. 7.3/10
