Everybody talks about October as their most underrated album. I truly think this album is the real one. Of course, it has the sensation of being a transition record but it has an atmosphere no other album in their discography has and probably will have. Here, the passion and raw energy of the early years slowly change to a different sound for U2, one of a band who really starts to change and wants to try different things. For some, it was the end of the golden period of the band, for me the best was yet to come. The next album would prove the whole world U2 what they were really about. Back to The Unforgettable Fire days, it almost feels like a closing of an era. Fantastic music. 9.6/10

Why on earth haven't they made more stuff like 4th of July? It's probably the best thing I've ever heard from 'em. But no, they choose to make inflated, pompous stadium gooey. Makes sense financially but artistically, I don't understand it.

Next time some kid tells you that U2 sucks please reply with this album. 25 years later they may have burned themselves down to irrelevance, but nevertheless this Fire is truly unforgettable. [2]

So far removed from everything else they have done, this is definitely a high point career-wise for them. Great sounds.
