About this album
No Line on the Horizon is the twelfth studio album by Irish rock band U2, released on 27 February 2009 in Ireland, 2 March in the rest of Europe, and a day later in North America. The album is U2’s first since 2004’s How to Dismantle an Atomic Bomb, the longest gap between studio albums in the band’s career. It was accidentally leaked onto the internet before release. On the first day of the official release it reached platinum status.
The unreleased album found its way onto BitTorrent and was downloaded hundreds of thousands of times. As a result, it was rumored that the RIAA asked social music service Last.fm for data about its users’ listening habits to find people with unreleased tracks on their computers. Last.fm denied such situation occurred.

It's like "This Is War" by 30STM... The best tracks are progressive rock masterpieces, (from this, "Moment Of Surrender" and "White As Snow", from This Is War "Kings & Queens" and "This Is War"), and the worst tracks are electro-pop bullshit ("Stand-Up Comedy" and "Crazy Tonight", and for TIW "Stranger In A Strange Land" and "Closer to the Edge". They're very alike.

The waste of producers (Brian Eno, Danny Lanois and Steve Lillywhite) is quite embarrassing on No Line On The Horizon (Interscope, 2009). No Line On The Horizon is a trivial repetition of stereotypes (shouter, percussive sound). Magnificent has an atmospheric and pathetic guitar twang, but doesn't do much with it. Get on Your Boots is a bit more rocking and less whining than the rest, and Fez - Being Born is the "experimental" piece. It would be difficult to find a worse album that was released in the same year. (Piero Scaruffi)
