About this album

Universal Music Ltd. (2000) Released: 22 Oct 2000 12 tracks (53:04)
All That You Can’t Leave Behind is the tenth studio album by rock band U2. It was released on 30 October 2000 by Island Records in the United Kingdom and Interscope Records in the United States. Following the mixed reception to their 1997 album, Pop, All That You Can’t Leave Behind represented a return to a more conventional sound for the band after they experimented with alternative rock and dance music in the 1990s. At the time of the album’s release, U2 said on a number of occasions that they were “reapplying for the job … the best band in the world”. U2 brought back producers Brian Eno and Daniel Lanois who had produced a number of the band’s previous albums.

All That You Can’t Leave Behind has sold over 12 million copies, received wide critical acclaim, and won seven Grammy Awards. The songs “Beautiful Day”, “Walk On”, “Elevation”, and “Stuck in a Moment You Can’t Get Out Of” were all successful singles. In 2003, the album was ranked number 139 on Rolling Stone magazine’s list of “The 500 Greatest Albums of All Time”.

U2 goes back to their classic sound. A surprisingly low key album, but full of great tracks. When I Look At The World is probably my favorite on this record.

I think it's Bono's worst vocally, everything he does after track 7 is really lifeless and dull. But decent record overall.

It took me 10 years to realise this is a really decent album.

Was my dirty pleasure for a long time. Now I can't listen to it without switching my gag reflex into full throttle. Admit it people, this record's kind of shit.

This album is solid, though not nearly as good as Pop or Zooropa, but completely front-loaded.

U2 are magicians. an album with 80% pop ballads and somehow they manage to be known as rock artists

Come on people, this album has some awesome singles and helped introduce U2 to younger generations, I don't see what's wrong with that.

U2 in 2000 were everything I don't like about them and at the same time, what I want them to be. It's a very sad thing because some of these songs sounds like they really want to be the band they use to be. Sure, it's catchy but this time, they know it and it feels more calculated. The messianic Bono is all over the place on this one, it's almost annoying. 6.5/10
