About this album
Bastard is the debut studio album by Tyler, The Creator of OFWGKTA. The album was self-produced by Tyler, the Creator and was first released December 25, 2009.
Throughout the album, Tyler speaks to a character named Dr. TC, who acts as Tyler’s therapist and guidance counselor. During the title track, Dr. TC hints at Tyler’s second and third albums (2011’s Goblin and 2013’s Wolf, respectively) to be additional sessions with him. The songs “Odd Toddlers” and “Slow It Down” were previously released on The Odd Future Tape. A chopped and screwed version by Mike G also exists and was released online.
On the one year anniversary of its original release, the song “Session” was updated, replacing Brandun DeShay’s verse with one by Mike G, after Tyler’s falling out with DeShay. However the album is now available on Odd Future’s online music store with DeShays vocals returning to the track. Tyler plans on re-releasing Bastard in a remastered physical form through their record label Odd Future Records.
