Biography

Who are Two Seconds To Midnight?
The dictionary would supply thus: Two Seconds To Midnight provide a blend of brooding strings, pounding drums, celtic stylings and the brutally honest lyrics of Scottish front man Zig Payton that effortlessly morph from hear-a-pin-drop intimacy to soaring through-the-roof-and-beyond codas.

But really, they are a gaggle of musicians based in New York from wildly different backgrounds, some self taught, some classically trained, some from nyc, some from Michigan, (one from Scotland), some girls, some boys, some grumpy, some happy, some sad, but whom all, piece by piece, layer by layer, found themselves in a room to make some music together. Comparisons have been drawn to the likes of Radiohead, Sigur Ros, Mogwai and The Frames but even the band themselves admit to not really planning where the music can go next, leaving a vast frontier in front of them. That's the way they like it.

It started as a acoustic 'side-project' between Zig Payton and Hannah Hens-Piazza to pass time between other projects, rehearsing in a wine bar in Queens before the bar opened its doors to the public. Gradually, more and more friends joined in and before they knew it, they had assembled a cast of characters (sometimes up to 8 musicians) ready and willing to add some muscle. Rehearsals had to move to a bigger locale. They toiled away on Zig's songs of messy love, longing and bad hangovers and after 2 years of playing together and honing their live sound this has ultimately culminated in the most ambitious and accomplished work of their lives to date. They made the album completely independently, self-funded and self-promoted, and even when money got tight, they refused to compromise on their vision.

The music has found its way onto record and is now presented in Architecture.
