TUFA features an experimental fusion of Southeast Asian sounds and electronica. You will hear mellow electronic and percussive beats with acoustic voice and fretless bass. The group creates a spatial soundscape with a multi-layered texture drawn from a wide variety of sources; Pentatonic melodies mix with Indian/Middle Eastern scales; hints of bluesy-jazz grooves blend with subtle samples; tone poems merge with Chinese chants.

The entire production, under the aesthetic direction of Wei-Zen Ho and the mentorship of Justo Diaz, involves collaboration with visual artists using different mediums to convey the mood and ambience of the music. At the moment the visuals are based on digital video and slide projections.

TUFA spent most of 2002 recording and mixing their latest CD "Femalia", with some financial assistance from the Australia Council for the Arts. This remarkable work was launched with the band at their audio and visual best, to a full house on 4th May 2003 at Bangarra Dance Theatre, The Wharf.
