Tubelord. (2006-2012)
A fetish for screenprinted wares, cryptic lyrics and obsessions with fifth dimensional time travel helps garner sense of their erratic sensibilities.

Original members Joseph Prendergast (guitar/vocals) and David Catmur (drums/vocals) being joined by Tom Coulson Smith (bass) and James Elliot Field (keys), Tubelord are reincarnate. Beginning 2011 with a mammoth 40-date headline tour of Europe, developing on from a Glastonbury 2010 slot, touring alongside And So I Watch You From Afar and Oceansize, a devonshire cabin is where they have chosen to record the follow up to debut ‘Our First American Friends’ (Hassle/Vagrant) and the subsequent EP ‘Tezcatlipoca’. The band have left their roots of London for Bristol, their reasoning, according to drummer David Catmur, being “”there’s a better internet connection here”, “and if the theme we’re tackling is the internet, we’d best nest up here” adds ivory-banger James.

For now, Tubelord are broken projectors, patiently awaiting someone to plug them in to a power supply (preferably with wi-fi to stream their imaginations into your screens) and a helping hand to focus their lens. In the meantime, the new video for ‘Bazel’ will have to do.

During the past few months I've been really getting into "Romance" and I've come to the conclusion that it's an awesome album (but not as godlike as there debut). The first album just set standards that were really hard to top for them.

Only 4T3, Never Washboard and My First Castle from Romance but all of OFAF (except Synthesize and Cows To The East) plus pretty much all of the stuff off the earlier singles / EPs. Obstacles, Dun Dun Dun, Arm Watches Fingers, Death Of A Digital Alarm Clock, Feed Me A Box Of Words... basically the whole fucking lot.

Yeah, it was obviously going to happen. Discovering them back when they released Feed Me a Box of Words did me a world of good when it came to my music taste. It's a shame Romance didn't live up to their previous work in anyway, but it will never take anything away from how much I love their earlier work.

Tubelord are officially disbanding according to their label Pink Mist. They're doing one final show www.facebook.com/events/412917582108627/ Tubelord were one of the first math rock/indie rock bands I discovered 4 years ago. Not only were they a fantastic band, they also opened a doorway for me to discover countless other bands whose sounds I'd never been exposed to before. Without their influence, I doubt I'd have developed the music taste I have today. I'll certainly miss them... Thank you for everything Tubelord.
