Biography
The traditional and contemporary folk music of Sweden is combined by Stockholm-based trio Trio Patrekatt. Centered around the interplay between two nyckelharps (keyed fiddles) and cello, the group has built its reputation on a colorful ensemble sound. While www.ink9.com praised the trio for mixing "bits of classical phrasing with unexpected joyful melodic twists," www.rollingstone.com claimed they "produce thick bass tempos that don't normally characterize Swedish folk music." The group was founded by three graduates of the Royal College of Music in Stockholm – Markus Svensson, Johan Hedin (who was subsequently replaced by Niklas Roswall), and Annika Wijnbladh. ~ Craig Harris, All Music Guide
