(1971 – present)

Tri Yann (breton for the “three Jeans”) is a Breton folk-rock band founded in 1971 by Jean-Louis Jossic, Jean Chocun and Jean-Paul Corbineau. The band began by playing traditional Breton music on traditional instruments like mandoloncello, dulcimer, psaltery, bombarde, cromorne and shawm. In 1976, with “La Découverte ou l’Ignorance”, they started to introduce some rock elements like electric bass and drums.

Today they are one of the longest-standing Breton music groups surviving from the folk-rock revival of the 1970s. A popular live band in France, Tri Yann is famous for their outlandish costumes and theatrical presentation on stage. The band members are multi-instrumentalists, and usually the number of instruments on the stage is usually far greater than the number of musicians.

    Hi folks / Salut! J'ai ajouté des dates de concerts 2011 en reprenant a partir de leur site officiel... bon j'ai pas ajouté pour janvier... les gens doivent déja etre au courant... et me suis areté a fin avril... les changements ça arrive donc voila. :) sinon sur le site du groupe ya des dates jusque juin... Juste une précision: j'ai rien a voir avec la prog. ou autres - j'ai fais ça comme ça. : ) Aussi, le groupe va sortir un nouveau CD intitulé RUMMADOÙ (Générations) <---- Forthcoming album!! - Release date / date de sortie : 12/02/2011.

    Je viens de voir Tri Yann en concert ce samedi et voici ma conclusion. Tri Yann, le groupe est devenu plus que médiocre. Le groupe s'est mis à du "Celto-commercialo-inclassable" (avec un zeste de salade de fruit de mer). Ils sont devenu plus que banal et sans plus aucun feu de leur jeunesse. Ils réussissent mais à être plus mauvais que Manau, qui arrivaient à être amusant eux. En bref, on a eu droit à une représentation si pathétique, qu'elle n'en était même plus risible. Je ne savait si je devais en rire ou en pleurer surtout quand je compare à des groupes tels que Corvus Corax, Omnia, The Corrs, Clannad, Crétonerre ou des artiste tels qu' Alan Stivel Tri Yann fût mais n'est plus sauf pour quelques Beaufs et le prix du billet ne vaut pas le prix du papier sur lequel il est imprimé.
