The track “Quake Theme” is the main theme song from the soundtrack for id Software’s first person shooter video game “Quake”. Trent Reznor made the soundtrack and many of the sound effects for the game which featured a Nailgun and ammo with the signature “NIN” logo. John Carmack, id’s main programmer, was a fan of Nine Inch Nails and Trent Reznor a fan of id’s seminal shooter “Doom”.

    This music meshed so well with the Quake gameplay it was ridiculous. Still love the nine inch nails logo on the nail gun ammo boxes.

    Watching the Quake intro demo after fresh install on my Pentium 166 was a momentous occasion. All of the ambient tracks are called specifically by level in Quake as you play, assuming you have the disc in the drive. Trent also did all of the sound effects for Quake, all of which are permanently burned into my brain.

    @vagrant_lust This was composed for a video game. The tracks are going to slow down and repeat endlessly. The whole point is to create atmosphere not to entertain someone in any given situation. The soudntrack to Quake just happens to be amazing for the most part.

    One of the main reasons why I played Quake was because of the awesome soundtrack, LOL. And yes, TR should do more soundtracks for games, I'd love to see what he'd do with Silent Hill or Resident Evil.
