Otso, an artist from western Finland, composes beats in his bedroom. He made his first beats, aged 12, after his parents refused his request for an electric guitar. To Otso, making music is a way to amuse himself - and learning new skills/techniques is the reward.

Inspired by artists ranging from DJ Premier, J Dilla, Pete Rock, Oddisee, Kev Brown to Billie Holiday, Ella Fitzgerald, Sarah Vaughn and Roberta Flack, L’Orange’s music reflects that influence. His love for the 1920’s-1950’s eras are sometimes even more evident, however.

Tall Black Guy was birthed from humble beginnings in Detroit, MI and homegrown on a diet of Motown, jazz and early hip-hop. He relocated to Illinois suburbia, where over a decade he has studied some of hip-hop’s greatest producers like; Dj Premier, J-Dilla, Madlib, Pete Rock, and Timberland.

The album showcases collaborations with Dwele, Little Brother, K-Otix, Lady Alma, Rich Medina, Mark de Clive Lowe, and many others.

Substantial is synonymous with hip-hop, from the U.V. Ink label he launched, to the lyrical dexterity of his common-man flow. His debut solo album, To This Union A Sun Was Born (Hyde Out Productions), did well everywhere, especially in Japan where it hit the Top 10. This success set off a career touring Asia, Europe and almost all of North America.
