Transistor Zen- Raleigh, North Carolina
Consisting of a wide array of sounds with lyrics written by published writer/song-writer/guitarist Chad Halliday, Transistor Zen takes a new approach on the folk rock/indie scene. The music, written by Guitarist Justin Wesley, Drummer Tradd Yancy, and Bassist David Henry provides a multitude of light to heavy sounding songs and poetry.
Formed in 2007, the group was influenced by a variety of major recording artists, such as; Radiohead, Pixies, Deer Tick, Bob Dylan, Sonic Youth, Red Fang, and Bright Eyes. With such a variety, the band became experimental, focusing on a unique sound to match Chad's unique poetry song writing style.
All the members from then and now, Comming from various musical backgrounds originated in Raleigh, NC, where they have continued to play and record at many of the local venues, and have continued to support the local music scene.
In 2009, after recording their first Ep, the group lost drummer Ben Fisher, also a local sing/songwriter. In lieu of this loss, The band quickly picked up successful and aspiring drummer Tradd Yancy, who lost no time in picking up where Ben Fisher had left off, and carrying the group to new heights in writing and producing new music.
Presently the group continues to create and write new songs that leave audiences both mystified and anxious for what the group will create next. They always have upcomming shows in Raleigh,NC and put out 100% energy at each one. Though unsigned as of yet, all the members look forward to the next show and the prospect of sharing their music with the world.
