Transglobal Underground: a loose London-based musical collective, most active in the 90s, making worldbeat dance music. Less ambient and more percussive than contemporaries such as Banco de Gaia. In their approach (not their sound) they are a little like The Incredible String Band: taking sounds and instrumentation from a wide of non-western sources. TGU claim to be influenced by the Krautrock band Can.

TGU LIVE IN LONDON Transglobal Underground are playing a rare live gig in London on 9th April (Easter Thursday). It is to celebrate the release of their new 'best of' album, out the following Monday. lineup also includes Dreadzone (soundsystem), The Hanging Ropes and Killa KDJ. The venue is Dingwalls in Camden and its 8pm - 1am Tickets are a tenner from www.dingwalls.com and you get a free MP3 download included in the price.
