21 Dec 2006, 17:50 by RideDeadPegasusI started thinking that I didn't buy a lot of newly-released albums in the year 2006.
was 2006 a bad year for music ?
then I checked which were my most recently released albums and I came up with:
Some Girls-Heaven's Pregnant Teens
Her Breath on Glass-Building Monuments For Survival
These Arms Are Snakes-Easter
Pretty Girls Make Graves-elan vital
The Sedan Vault-Mardi Gras Of The Sisypha
HORSE the band-Pizza EP
White Circle Crime Club-A Present Perfect
June Paik-june paik
Amen Ra-Mass III
Between the Buried and Me-The Anatomy Of
Jakuzi's Attempt - ep
Celeste - pessimiste
you've got to admit... that those aren't that much releases.
and not many stick out in my collection as well.
I think the amen ra -album and "heaven's pregnant teens" are my favourite,
followed by "brother, sister" and the trainwreck EP.
23 Sep 2006, 20:35 by bloodshoeswent to the black swamp arts festival a few weeks ago in bowling green, my old hometown. it was nice to see my old friends and i saw some great music, although i have to admit i was too busy hanging out, drinking beers, and rocking and/or rolling to check out much of the visual art that was there.
on the first night we saw the reverend horton heat, which was more than a little amazing. he came out like sex on wheels with his slicked-back grey hair and sequined jacket (with flames!), and played the guitar like it was a slow, hard fuck. his bassist spent a great deal of time surfing on his stand-up bass, which looked really expensive, so i'm glad there were no bass-related mishaps. and the drummer, the newest addition to his crew, was astonishing. it was like listening to this blues-rockabilly band, but with a heavy metal drummer. his songs are clever and danceable and dripping with innuendo, and he can make that guitar do whatever he wanted. …
