Perhaps most well known for writing Peace to the World and producing B.B. King’s Grammy Award winning album B.B. King Live at San Quentin, Trade Martin can also be heard playing guitar on the Isley Brothers Twist and Shout and on Neil Diamond’s Cherry Cherry. His iconic contributions to American pop culture range from the Dixie Cups Going to the Chapel right through to TWA’s Fly the Friendly Skies and Prudential’s Own A Piece of the Rock jingles.

Martin worked with Johnny Power in the late 1950s, recording as Johnny & the Jokers and together they launched the label Rome Records, active from 1960 to 1962. The label signed the groups The Earls, Del & the Escorts, and The Glens. On many of these recordings, Martin played all of the backing instruments, overdubbing them track by track.
