24 Aug 2009, 12:24 by fmeraFollowing up on the earlier journal, Getting Artist Images to Look Their Best, here is a short guide to explain how images (be they square, tall, or wide) that you upload to artist galleries are cropped for eventual use in the library.
I'll use these images (taken from Simone Kopmajer's gallery) as a visual guide to show how your original artist pics will end up looking as library images. It works on the idea that cropping images square or tall - if your original shots allow this - really is the safer option, as they minimize further cropping when your images are processed. Shown below are three sample images, in square, tall, and wide formats, and beside them the actual 126s images used for the library. The translucent red masking shows where image content will be lost (or hidden from view, rather), and the window is what you'll end up with in the library:

Woop! Wednesday's best new track was 'I Lost My Colour Vision' by Burning Hearts. And instead of me wibbling on about it, you can download it for free by clicking here! Yaay!
The best old track was 'Just What I Needed' by The Cars. I bought this on 7" single way back when it came out and it remains a fabulous, rocking pop song. Just brilliant!
As an added bonus, eagle-eyed... er... listeners may have noticed that I played several tracks by Late Of The Pier. That's because they're playing tonight in Derby! Double yaaay!
This is what you heard:
6Blocc - Warning
Rogue Wave - Bird on a Wire
DJ Honda - On The Mic
Towa Tei - Technova (La Em Copacabana)
Eric B. & Rakim - Know The Ledge
Headhunter - drop the waste
Death Vessel - Deep In The Horchada
Like A Tim - Zilver 3
22 Dec 2008, 15:47 by 2SerenitySinger Amel Larrieux has done so many collaborations that I am TRYING to keep up but man, she has created a maze for me. However, as an appreciator of her work, style and spirit, I am getting it. What I enjoy about Amel is that she does not stick with one genre but she explores a lot of creative ways of expressing herself. I like that. She is not boxing herself into one genre.
So, on the www.blisslife.com (her website) board we were discussing collaborations that Amel Larrieux has done and I had never heard of Towa Tei's music until recently for I was formed of his collaboration with her on his song, Time After Time (No he did not cover Cyndi Lauper's famous song, Time After Time). I enjoy his music for it is electronic mixes with a soul beat.
Towa Tei featuring Amel Larrieux - Time After Time
Anyway, in listening to the album, Sound Museum, I realized that Towa Tei did a rendition of Hall and Oates classic song, Private Eyes.
14 Jul 2008, 00:28 by voxel777I've leeched off XM, dabbled in last.fm, been punted from Pandora and scorched through Yahoo LaunchCAST and I've returned back to Live365 internet radio.
Nothing replaces user-created playlists like the ones available on Live365. So much for machine-based recommendation systems (hey, I DON'T LIKE Avril Lavigne, mmm'kay?) because they suck.
I once had a my own station there for a brief time - I played Pizzicato Five, The Fantastic Plastic Machine, Saint Etienne, Cornelius, Towa Tei, Arling & Cameron, and all sorts of Shibuya Kei like tunes.
