    First off, Lateralus is an absolutely mind-blowing album, and I think it is their best album to date.

    I've been reading various articles on the net that say that the album is supposed to be listened to in a different order. Summed up quickly it says that the real order of the album is 6,7,5,8,4,9,13,1,12,2,11,3,10 which as a tracklisting is:

    Parabol
    Parabola
    Schism
    Ticks & Leeches
    Mantra
    Lateralus
    Faaip de Oiad
    The Grudge
    Triad
    Eon Blue Apocalypse
    Reflection
    The Patient
    Disposition


    The basic reasoning for this reordering is that if you write out the numbers as 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10,11,12,13 and then draw parabolas connecting the tracks in this order it forms a spiral (which is hinted in the song lateralus with lines like "Spiral out, keep going"). However, there doesn't seem to be any reason to move to track 13 from track 9 but it seems to make sense when you listen to it.

    In this order the album certainly seems to make more sense, at least the opening half does. …
