too true pinkfloid, it always seemed to me like they tried to force this album too much. on top of going so mainstream with 10k days... it just doesn't feel like they put as much thought behind their sound here compared to earlier albums. and those over-analytical "fans" were a lot fewer and far between before this album also. i miss that... haha

I enjoy most Tool songs but I find this fairly unexceptional. I mean it's enjoyable background music but that's about it. If as a listener you feel a need to imbue a song with a complex story about how it represents the voyage of mankind from innocence to nowadays to make it enjoyable then something's wrong. I quite enjoy the fact Tool are much better musicians than to rely too much on one sound or peg themselves into a corner musically but it doesn't mean every experiment is a success either. I'll count this as one of those interesting failures.
