    However.... The song IS a loose interpretation of a French song "Le Moribund" that DOES reference the "singer's" wife's infidelity.

    Correction... the original Too Much Joy version is NOT from "...Finally". It is from "Son Of Sam I Am" and it is much better than their live version.

    This version is the live version of the cover they did on their album "...Finally". Neither it nor the Terry Jacks original contain the "cheating wife" part.

    One Summer Vacation, when I was a kid, I heard the original Terry Jacks version of this song on an AM radio oldies-station; its sadness deeply possessed me, pierced my young psyche and haunted my idle thoughts... I wonder if "Seasons In The Sun" was the seed of my melancholy or did it just nurture what was already there? I can remember being depressed - truly depressed (as opposed to "sad", "blue" or "down") - as far back as 5th grade but I can't recall the chronology concerning "Seasons In The Sun". It sure made going back to school at the end of that August a bummer.
