i got to see them live, one sunday afternoon in new york city.i'd never heard of them before; & the were 6 other groups performing that day , in an offbeat & otherwise unknown little theater off of colombus circle, Long story, short-i was stunned by their powerful-and i mean powerful-hall filling sound..this as a small venue showcasing various world music genres;and although each act was appreciated-all but antibalas-were soon forgotten! later that year, i tried to see them again-the venue, (a small club,in tribeca, off hudson st)- was choked by huge crowds; a sign in front read: "no standing room" .fu#%! --i said to myself! today, as ipen these lines, i still feel the beat of their sound (called -africalia). dont miss their live performance! wish i could see 'em adain, alas i 'm now reside in one of the banana republics. sorry 4 the kong-winded rant. i blame last fm; i just joined and i'm so happy with it -its made me giddy crexus.
