  • I like their older stuff best, like this.
  • The restrained nature of the band's performance here really adds to the tension and Campbell's frequent riffing is almost cathartic. Just wanted to add that to my review.
  • This dark and creepy tale tells of a violent streetfight witnessed in the middle of the night by the protagonist of the song and a faceless mob. Tom sounds appropriately nervous and paranoid with good reason. There's definitely racy subject matter here like racial violence and Tom's saying 'crazy black guy,' which could man the protgonist is a bit prejudice, also 'god damn you, old black bastard!' It sounds as if it could've raised some eyebrows back in the 70s. Tom keeps the rhythm simple with a nice guitar line and Campbell riffing all over the place, Lynch's drums keep everything sounding tight and somewhat restrained. Tom effectively paints a frightening and tense urban tale with a paranoid atmosphere. 'The sound split the night, like those hiding from the light like strangers in the night.'
  • This sounds exactly like "Stuck in the Middle with You" by Steelers Wheel.
