From Tom's tumblr: " Explorers 5 is developed around use of a effects pedals, primarily delay, to create an atmospheric foggy sound. The whole thing sounds detached and uninvolved except for the one song with lyrics, which talks about wanting to be more detached and generally doesn’t make much sense. It also takes slight influence from the accidental compression and distortion you find on the orchestral soundtracks for old Bollywood films. The whole EP is meant to be a little dreamlike and unclear, and a lot of the more experimental sounds were predecessors for some of the sounds on…Explorers 6
