Awkward Ballads for the Easily Pleased, the debut album from Tom Milsom, has had an interesting past, appearing in several different versions. It was released initially in January 2008, as a limited edition run of 50, an amount considered reasonable to cope with demand at the time, each individually illustrated and signed by Tom and given a number. These sold out in three days, and a new, larger print run of 2,000 was ordered along with a remastering of the tracks and a new booklet, featuring lyrics and, y’know, copyright notices. Hah. They’ve been selling steadily ever since.
The album was recorded over 2007 in a bedroom, often with very little consideration of the fact that they would eventually be listened to by real people, occasionally giving the album a strange feeling of utter detachment from anything in the real world ever (see the breakdown at the end of Catsongs II) but strong tunes
