To Blacken the Pages is the sonic work of Paul McAree. Based in Dublin Ireland, TBTP's first release was in autumn 2007 with the mega-heavy 47 minute epic 'The Urgency' - something Julian Cope described as: 'this awe-inspiring solo Sunn Mustang guitar-fest manages to invoke that same exhilarating Zoroastrian burning as early Ash Ra Tempel, without even once sounding less than entirely itself. Creeping around the walls, seeping deep into your cupboards and drawers, the music of To Blacken The Pages dissolves linear time and swallows all misery whole.'
Prolific to say the least, TBTP released their 5th CD, 'North', on 9 February 2009. A double collaborative album with Korperschwache called 'A Way Dark' was released in November 2009, and TBTP has also released a 12" record called 'Crow's Nest'. In October 2010 an exclusive track 'Sodium Haze' was featured on the cover of the Wire magazine's 'Tapper' cd.
29 October 2012 saw To Blacken the Pages launch their 6th solo cd, 'Bogland'. This album marks a departure in direction, with a focus on direct guitar experimentation and voice.
'When I lie on the Ground' is TBTP's most recent track, a 30 minute, free to download track which sees a return to noise drenched guitar work.
