(2005 – present)

Tinyfolk is Russ Woods (and sometimes Meghan Lamb) of Wheaton, IL. Tinyfolk began in 2005 an awkward, flightless phoenix that unmajestically emerged from the ashes of Russ’s Newburgh, Indiana-based lo-fi project A Pilgrimage to Save This Human Race and gradually learned to do things like tie its own shoes and use Apple’s Garageband. Tinyfolk give all their music away for free on last.fm and cllct.

Originally, Tinyfolk featured just Russ on soprano ukulele and vocals, then he eventually began using baritone ukulele and Meghan began singing along and playing accompaniment glockenspiel sometimes (when he begged her enough). Classical guitar came next, and in 2008, Russ recorded Sic Semper Equis an almost entirely electronic album, and a similarly electronic EP/split with Brother Bird, Steel Magnolias, came shortly after, followed by Catfood Shotgun Goddamn. He has since returned to baritone ukulele while continuing to make electronic music, putting out various collections of odds and ends throughout 2008 and 2009. His next album proper, Black bears., will be out in late 2009, followed by We got hot and died., which will be released on Swim Slowly records in 2010.

Russ claims great creative indebtedness to his friends Super Famicom and Redbear. and especially to Meghan, whose solo project, iron like nylon, he claims to be greatly influenced by.
