Biography
Several artists/bands use(d) the name Tilt:
1. A Polish rock group, currently consisting of Tomasz Lipiński (guitar, vocals) Karol Ludew (drums) and Piotr Leniewicz (bass). The band was formed in 1979, and then broke up in 1981 when a few of the original members left Poland. At the time, Robert Brylewski of Kryzys (who also split at the time) approached Tomasz with the intent to form a band, which became the legendary Brygada Kryzys. On 1-4 September 1982 they played their last shows in Warsaw, and the group broke up. Afterwards, Tomasz reformed Tilt, this time with new musicians, and the group has been performing since then, with occasional periods of inactivity. The band has always been associated with the Polish punk movement, and was one of the first such bands in Poland. Tomasz Lipiński is the only constant member.
2. A progressive trance collaboration formed by producers Mick Parks and Mick Wilson, along with John Graham (AKA “Quivver”), who later left to pursue his solo career. After Graham’s departure, he was replaced by Andy Moor. Tilt is connected with the label Lost Language. They released an album titled Explorer in early 2005 containing such hits as “The World Doesn’t Know” (one of the top tunes of 2004) and “
New Day”. They release new material quite rarely, largely due to Andy Moor’s involvement in other collaborations, including Leama and Moor and Whiteroom. On November 6, 2006, they released a new album, Vaults.
