Maria Teresa Vera
(Guanajay, 1895 – Havana, 1965) was a Cuban singer-songwriter. She started her career as a singer in 1911 in a theatre. Her friend, the trovador Manuel Corona used to give some advice to her and taught her to play guitar. She sang in the band Grupo Típico with Carlos Godinez. She met Ignacio Piñeiro, who taught her to play double bass.
