Biography

In an era where rock music continues to fragment into countless subgenres at an ever-increasing pace, the six L.A. area friends in Throwing Seven decided to challenge this notion of being another “scene band” and dedicate their sound to a unique hybrid of melodic, dynamic and eclectic hard rock. Using three guitarists: Paul Gonzalez, Ben Crandell and Eric Jacobson, Throwing Seven has created a harmonically rich sound to back up Jude’s clear and anthemic vocal melodies. Along with Dave Cortez (bass/vocals) and Adam Tice (percussion/vocals) providing a tight and knowledgeable rhythm section, no musical ingredient is left to chance. While focusing on the diversities of rock music, songs from their first release, Hope Forgets To Breathe, have been compared to artists ranging from Guns N’ Roses, the Killers, Linkin Park, Radiohead, Foo Fighters, Thrice, Incubus and A Perfect Circle. While deeply appreciative of such comparisons, the band calls the list of artists “a good start” suggesting intent to further develop their sound.

Throwing Seven have proven their musical street credibility by playing several major showcases and festivals, including the 2008 Vans Warped Tour and 2010 SXSW Festival, and have shared stages with national acts including Unwritten Law, Finch, hed(pe), EEK-A-MOUSE, Story of the Year, Escape the Fate, I am Ghost, DITCH and the Kottonmouth Kings. They have headlined and regularly play at well-known Sunset Strip venues such as the Whisky A Go-Go, the Roxy and the Key Club in addition to other Southern California venues like the Glasshouse and House Of Blues, Anaheim. Their live shows are energetic and craft a sense of fervor in any audience they play to, by relying on impassioned stage presence and crowd interaction.

This band from San Dimas, Caifornia will rock you in many ways. Basically, it has you begging for an explanation as to what the HELL you just experienced! Rarely a band breaks the mold and dares to show you what music can do. Throwing Seven is one of those rarities. They have allowed their music to guide itself and dared to color outside the normal song writing and performing lines. Throwing Seven's style is a unique eclectic collection of older original punk and real move your insides bust your ass rock with a little alternative sprinkled in for the masses. Throwing Seven front man Jude has style and energy second only to his complete dedication to his craft. Don't be surprised when this singer gets off the stage and is right in the audience while in the middle of a song. In some cases he has to be helped back to the stage as he is swallowed up by the fans. Throwing Seven Bassist Dave shows his dominating talent as he proves he can hold his own and give you a show as well. Even when you consider he is the lone base line to the 3 guitarists on board. Yes, 3. Eric, Ben, and Paul are all a force to be reckoned. Especially when you get them together. Each in their own right is accomplished and melodic. Not to mention the show they put on with their physical presence. Their jumping around stage, stomping and head banging will infect you. So much so, you will find you are doing the same! The cherry on the top of this rock star sunday is Derek. The drummer is for lack of better term phenomenal. His style is reminisant of old school Tommy Lee and any school Travis Barker. You cant help but stare. In fact, this whole band has you breaking all the rules of politeness your parental units instilled in you. You will point, stare and talk to these strangers. Throwing Seven's talent has not poisoned their personalities. They are all as down to earth as the guy at your local supermarket. If there is a band that needs not be missed it is Throwing Seven. Anyone ready for real talent and entertainment will not be disappointed. In this time of stale music, untalented bands acting like primadonnas, and cookie cutter "Rock Stars" Throwing Seven proves that real talent is not extinct but it is alive and well in San Dimas, California.
