Featured members of doom metal band Unearthly Trance. Though the band admits they have black metal influences, they wish not to be associated with the so called “gimmick of a scene.” They disassociate themselves from the scene and claim their sound is just dark metal with death metal influences.

probably because black metal in general has such a negative connotation--maybe that's what they were distancing themselves from. it was easier to do that than to say, 'black metal the way we want it to be', i suppose.
