This Way To The Egress

This Way to the Egress is a well oiled musical machine, running on a tank of piss and vinegar, and comprised of an unholy union of characters so varied (and at times, volatile) that to tell the story of Egress is like telling the story of Shiva’s dance of creation and destruction before and after each cosmic cycle. But varied as the cast may be, two unifying goals remain: The first is to present a sound not only true to its Vaudeville roots, but also not shy about pushing boundaries and evolving as a band (and musical family). And second of course, to exorcise the demons of all that witness their madness. And this is just the beginning.

Habitual pilgrims of the road—and with a home base of Bethlehem, PA—This Way to the Egress puts on a show that sounds and looks just as at home on an Opera House stage as it does on a New Orleans street corner. Sowed in the fertile soil of dirty little secrets, crushed childhood dreams, addiction, despair, jubilation, and of course debauchery, Egress weaves elements of ol’ timey roots, klezmer, balkan, blues, ragtime, swing, and punk-rock into whiskey-soaked melodies, deviant rhythms, and infectious refrains.

“Tyrant” Taylor– Frontman and accordion-reveling extraordinaire! Past street performer to present stage stomper!
Saddle Sarah– Piano-plunker, expert ivory-tickler and fiddler. Egress’ very own resident artist, musical arranger & songstress.
John “Toobie Doo” Wentz–Resident tuba. “Toobie Doo” resides in the far away land of Brooklyn, NY and weaves his brassy bass melodies into the open arms of EGRESS tunes.
Jaclyn “the” Kidd– The Kidd spends most of her time as a spinster of strings—crafting wooden stringed instruments by day and pickin’ for EGRESS on the banjo & mandolin by night.
