  • greenbelt festival 2008/ my last three months listening

    Fri 22 Aug – Greenbelt Festival 2008

having listened to many of the bands playing this years greenbelt fest the plan is to post my last three month chart here (given when i was away this actually covers the full 11 weeks from me returning from the greenbelt iona retreat to my arrival at the festival) then slowly edit it with comments about the bands that did play the fest. prob a big job so count this journal entry as a work in progress.

1 Levellers 119(no link to greenbelt, well Seth lakeman's brother Sean produced their new album and i can find half a dozen other tenuous links)

    2 Michael Franti & Spearhead 82
headlined friday night, wow. maybe not as impressive as when he played two years back and so far i do think i prefer Yell fire to his new album.

    2 Duke Special 82
ok joint second for the duke, not at the festival this year but has been most years (once we get out of my top ten i'll delete the bands who weren't on the gb08 line up)
    4 Rachel Taylor-Beales 77
  • Greenbelt Festival 2008 - we are on the bill!

    30 Jul 2008, 19:43 by kid_electro

Yes, its true. We are playing a festival. How very exciting!!

Greenbelt Festival is a Christian music and arts festival - established in 1973 and first held in 1974, now in its 33rd year, and, at the last festival, attracted around 19,000 festival-goers. It starts on Friday 22nd August and goes through to Monday 25th August 2008. It's location - Cheltenham Racecourse, Cheltenham, Gloucestershire. Hurrah!

    Tickets can be found here:

    http://www.greenbelt.org.uk/shop/tickets/

We have been booked to play at 19.40pm on the Underground Stage, on Saturday evening. A great slot, I'm sure you'll agree. Headliners include Jose Gonzalez, Seth Lakeman, and Emmanuel Jal, and This Morning Call (in my head, not in reality).

Although I'm mostly excited about seeing my MySpace friends, a band called Elliot Jack, who I really rate, and like me enjoy watching the odd episode of DrWho, so no doubt we'll have a nice chat about that as well.

  • So, 2007, a good year for music?

Well, I was going to post this imaginatively titled entry into the blog canon last week but I've had a terribly serious case of man flu that has resulted in me loafing around and feeling sorry for myself, and obviously completely incapacitated in every possible way, so much so that I can't even bring myself to sit at a keyboard and type a few short words for your entertainment.

I think I can safely say that we have arrived at 2008, and today being Monday 7th January means for most of us its probably the most depressing day of the year as we are all back in work, and also the day when most of us start thinking about new challenges and changes of jobs! I dare say they'll be a fair few hours in my office spent trawling the internet as various members of staff decide they are fed up of the place and start looking for something else.

I was thinking the other day which records and artists have most impressed me in 2008. It's always nice to have a little retrospective, so here we go.
