This Thelonious Monk be bop thumper has two distinct lives. The title refers in name to Monk’s musical soul mate Bud Powell and has a performance history spanning Monk’s entire career.   • The live version on Misterioso is phenomenal. Brilliant sax solo by Johnny Griffin.
  • Bud Powell was probably a better pianist but Monk had Funk and a unique style that still entertains even after hundreds of listens.
