Thea Stapnes is a singer/songwriter from Birkeland, a small place near the southern coast of Norway. At the moment she study music in Oslo, where she also was born 22 years ago.
Her childhood consisted of lots of music and she started to sing early - as soon as she could talk. Seven years of age she began to take lessons in classical piano, and did that for five years. From then on, she began to show interest in popular music, and a year later Stapnes started to write her own songs. Through her teenage years, her first single, “All The Time” was written - a sheer pop song about the liberating feel of a warm, sunny day of summer. (Released August 2011)

Thea has developed her own musical expression, inspired, of course, by various artists like Regina Spektor, The Beatles, John Mayer, Ingrid Michaelson and Sondre Lerche. People who have heard her play think there are some elements of her songs, reminiscent of Marit Larsen, Nina Persson, Maria Mena and Carole King. She is undoubtedly a musical talent, playing the piano and singing with her very own distinctive, God-given voice.

Let’s tag her music as unpolished, profound pop with sensitivity and beauty.

Thea Stapnes released her first ever record, the “Smile EP” May 28th. 2012.
