Delamere Forest is one of the Forestry commissions venues for their "Forest Tour" of live music from the unique location of - well - a forest. Delamere's part of the tour is three nights in June, starting on Friday 13th June with The Zutons.
Noah and the Whale are supporting the Zutons throughout all their performances of the tour, and opened proceedings. They're a band I've heard on the past, but I can't really say much more than that. Shape of My Heart as their most recent single, was one I certainly recognised and enjoyed. Unfortunately, that was a rare event.
I consider that one of the most important things in a gig is to start the set with a strong song, that will get the crowd bouncing along to and enjoying themselves. Unfortunately, it didn't happen - and it really took a while to get going. Most of their songs are drab and dreary; and fairly toneless.
24 Oct 2007, 01:28 by chasethislightThe idea behind this, completely of my own making, is to pick my favourite opening track in my album collection, then my favourite second track, etc, all the way through to track X, being whatever is the last track on the longest album I have. This isn't an "ultimate album" - it isn't my top 12 tracks. Instead, rules for inclusion are that each artist can only have one track, and each track number has to be included, even if I don't particularly like any of the songs...
Let's get on with it.
01: Foo Fighters - All My Life (One by One)
I love the energy in this song. The lyrics meant a lot to me when I was going through a difficult part of my life, and listening to it now makes me feel good that I got through that.
02: Guillemots - Made-Up Lovesong #43 (Through The Windowpane)
This is musical art. All Guillemots songs, but particularly this one, seem to be crafted rather than just written. Fyfe's vocals towards the end of this song are brilliant.
03: Delays - Long Time Coming (Faded Seaside Glamour)

16 Apr 2006, 23:40 by OrbtasticName your top 10 most played bands on Last.fm:
3. Boards of Canada
4. The Zutons
6. Cannibal Ox
Now answer the questions according to the numbers:
-- what was the first song you ever heard by 6?
Iron Galaxy I think, I bought the LP on recommendation.
-- what is your favourite album of 2?
Tough one, probably umm...Abbey Road.
-- what is your favourite lyric that 5 has sung?
The only lying I would do is in the bed with you. Passin Me By
-- how many times have you seen 4 live?
-- what is your favourite song by 7?
No idea, I'm crap with song titles. Got all the LPs though, I'd have to skip through them to answer that one.
-- what is a good memory you have considering the music of 10?
None spring to mind....I just associate Music By Cavelight with 2004...I listened to it a lot.
-- is there a song of 3 that makes you sad?
