Shapes Of Things (2:39)

Cover of The Yardbirds Story, Part 1

From The Yardbirds Story, Part 1 and 60 other releases

According to the Shapes of Things Songfacts, bassist Paul Samwell-Smith told NME staffer and press officer Keith Altham that he wrote this song about the destruction of the planet. He added: “I wrote it in a bar in Chicago. I just lifted part of a Dave Brubeck fugue to a marching beat. It’s a sort of protest song.”

I suspect it is simply cheaper to stick on a live version from a royalties perspective- no matter how awful it sounds- they are doing it deliberately and hoping the vast majority of listeners won't mind or care.

@BlueOclock..I think most of these clowns worked at places like Columbia House.BMG etc..NO musical knowledge they have but wanna stay close to the music scene action someway/how,ya know?..While typing reminded of a time about 25 yrs ago..True story!..A buddy of mine's wife left him.. She took the car,the whole shebang!!!.ruined his credit,etc..Soon,to try and cheer himself up,he then mails Columbia House the penny at the time for 12 free Cds!..Well of course, his credit shot, they mail the penny back to him!!! Geez, how fuckin' down on your luck is that? That is fucked up!!! The lowest of the low!!! What Blues do ya call that???..Can picture some jerk from gleefully mailing that penny back at the time!!!

I don't get this habit of finding the most obscure version of a song possible and putting it on here. No milk and cookies for the staff at until the cows come home, and the cows are having quite a good time in town raising hell, so they ain't gonna be home anytime soon!
