About this album

In the summer of 2002, Redd Kross bassist Steven Shane McDonald came up with the idea to do an art experiment by adding bass tracks to 2 White Stripes songs and sharing them with Redd Kross fans via the internet. The overwhelmingly positive response inspired him to record bass tracks over the otherwise bass-less White Stripes album; White Blood Cells. After more than 60,000 downloads, The White Stripes arranged with Steven to take the files down, although it can still be found on various file-sharing networks under the name “Redd Blood Cells”

Probably one of the more interesting "bootlegs" I've heard.

I think this is great and I love when he doesn't hold back. "Little Room" is sweet.

I enjoyed it, but I had one big problem. The added vocals. No Steven. Bad Steven.

Some of these songs are vastly improved with the bass track and added backing vocals on a couple songs, some are not. Overall I think this is a nice companion to White Blood Cells. I like to listen to it once in a while.

Quite the interesting listen. If anything, it might make you like the Stripes even more.

translation (courtesy of Babelfish): Steven McDonald (bassist about talk Kross)remixte the complete album, by adding the bassless Songs a bass TRACK and whole published on-line as Redd Blood Cells. After an amicable agreement with the White Stripes the TRACKS from the side were removed, are however until today in the file sharing net far common.
