I tried to call. You'd just gone out
We've got to talk. You going to be about?
Oh you don't have to tell me where you've been
It's bad enough I know you were with him

The Wedding Present better than the Smiths? Blimey, even 20 years ago when they were at their peak I dont think you'd have found a single solitary Weddoes fan ready to make as bold a claim as that.

wedding present are far better than the smiths who are in my view dated and looking shop worn.gedge is the supreme master and an artist who is worth studing.he never fails and this endless talent is unmatched in english music history.

Like the Smiths, but without Morrissey's archness, listening to the Weddoes is like looking through faded photos with an old friend. Course they cant match the Smiths for pure musical talent, but there's something undeniably endearing about them, despite their musical limitations.

This is one of the best tracks on Seamonsters. This is Albini and the Weddoes in their respective heydays. David Gedge writes of jilted love like no one else. You can feel his anger and pain in his voice and guitars.
