The Villain Avian Symphony(The VAS) is a multimedia experiment in aggressive music and gripping imagery. Using elements of metal, punk, hardcore, drum & bass and ambient electronica, VAS founder Denyss McKnight(vocals/keys/programming) made a definitive decision to take the project from the studio and turn it into a live band. Recruiting Justin Hagberg(guitars), Johnny Matter(vocals), Nick Haltigin(bass), Kaelen Klypak(drums) and Alison Lilly(visuals), the VAS became a live entity. They’ve been likened to a “punk rock version of Ministry”, an “industrial take on 90’s hardcore” and “a virtual all out assault on all of your senses”.
The band released their first EP in December 2010 “Songs to Strike Panic and Terror Into Your Heart” which also featured 3 Inches of Blood guitarist Shane Clark to a very warm acclaim from both music authorities and music press.
2011 is the year the band takes the live show to a more full scale level with several upcoming live performances and plans to record a full length album.
