I'm one of those who've literally only heard Bitter Sweet Symphony and Drugs don't work from The Verve. I decided to take the plunge and listen to this album - it's really really good. It makes me feel like I'm enveloped inside a dark emotional plane of water.

the production (not the songs) suck, it is like they cranked up everything and it all sounds murky. The songwriting however is solid.

this is my 2nd fav. by verve. this lp is fun to listen to. the track list keeps the music ebbing along well. A Storm in Heaven will always remain my go to album them though.

This is a much more developed album than A Storm in Heaven, but no song on here tops "Slide Away". Overall though, it's better than their freshman effort.
