Venus in Furs (5:12)

Cover of The Velvet Underground & Nico 45th Anniversary

From The Velvet Underground & Nico 45th Anniversary and 28 other releases

The classic, musical adaption of Leopold von Sacher-Masoch’s homage to feminine dominance. Published in 1870, VENUS IN FURS created such a sensation that it was his name that became the root behind “Masochism.” Velvet Underground created this musical tribute to the dark side of sexuality in what has become an underground classic within the S/m scene.

Shiny, shiny, shiny boots of leather
Whiplash girl child in the dark
Comes and goes, your servant, don't forsake him
Strike, dear mistress, and cure his heart

One of the greatest songs of ALL TIMES! [4] I can't think of anything I've ever heard that sounds remotely like this. [6]

I always used to think Lou sang: "Taste the whip, in love not given lightly, Taste the whip now BLEED for me." It's PLEAD for me, according to published lyrics. In any case I love Lou's little laugh just at the end there. :)
