About This Track

This is classic Lou Reed. “Pale Blue Eyes” is a song written by Lou Reed and performed by The Velvet Underground. It was included on the band’s eponymous 1969 album “The Velvet Underground”. The song, as with a number of Reed’s other songs, was inspired by his college sweetheart and muse, Shelly Albin, who indeed had pale blue eyes.

Alejandro Escovedo does a brilliant version of this, really spare and haunting.[2]

One of my faves. I sung this at karaoke one night, though I didn't do it any justice.

i absolutley love thisx song. i remember when i first heard the velvet under ground it was about 13 years ago i was all gowed out and i heard a street preformer in seattle playing heroin he had the worst voice ever but i loved the song. we struck up a friendship and everytime i saw him i would ask him to play it. it got to the pioint where hed see me coming and just start playing it. After that i The Velvet Underground became one oif my fave bands... i think i like this song better than alot of their other songs...
