Released in 1981, Magnets was the second album by The Vapors. The theme of this album circles mostly around psychotic people and can be considered quite dark. The lead-single and opening track on this album Jimmie Jones is about a cult leader for example and the title track (Magnets) is about the assassination of John F Kennedy. The album also got less airplay then its predecessor (New Clear Days) and wasn't received as well either. The Vapors are a New Wave/power pop band from England that existed between 1979 and 1981. The band reformed in October 2016 and started playing gigs again that year. Based in Guildford, United Kingdom, their members are David Fenton (songwriter, guitar and vocals), Howard Smith (drums), Edward Bazalgette (lead guitar) and Steve Smith (bass guitar and vocals).
