Anyway, the entry was about the concert I went to last night. Caught up in a sea of back-to-school festivities I found myself at Saratoga Winners, the venue that was hosting THE SKA BRAWL TOUR FEATURING THE TOASTERS.
The Toasters shared the stage with teen rock favorites Big D and the Kids Table and Hawaiian party animals Go Jimmy Go with support from local high school myspacers.
The first band on the bill was Hollywood Funeral, one of the most talented high school bands I've ever seen. An incredible rhythm section put down a great foundation that was built off beautifully by the horns. This was also the only band with any keyboard in the songs, which added a layer of texture that the other bands lacked.
The second band was called Kicking Sicily and was much more punk-influenced than the band before them. I think this led them to make some more mistakes and get away with them, but there's no denying their energy.
