Black and Blue (2:09)

London band The Tamborines return with the Black and Blue 7″. It’s a slightly re-jigged group from the one that performed on last year’s debut album Camera & Tremor but maintains their knack for sweet melody and guitars soaked with distortion. Imagine a strung-out version of The Pains of Being Pure At Heart and we are getting close.

Front man Henrique Laurindo has a whispered vocal, his guitar on the other-hand runs at a speedy pace, along with relentless rhythms and shrieking refrains. The ‘B’ side slows it down, drummer Lulu Grave stepping to the mic (she was previously the keyboard player) for a sweet, sad-eyed delivery – the strums and muddied guitars ramble on close behind. Two songs that are as catchy as hell and don’t overstay their welcome – what more could we ask for?
