Biography
Japan (2007 – 2009)
the studs were a rock band formed by 大佑 (Daisuke, formerly of 蜉蝣) and aie (aie, formerly of Deadman, a fellow indies band that disbanded in 2007) in 2007 in Japan. yukino (formerly of GULLET) and 響 (Hibiki) also joined on bass and drums, respectively. Also worth noting is that aie, yukino, and Hibiki previously worked together in the band kein, and yukino was also a part of Deadman in 2000. the studs released their debut mini album studs in June 2007 before starting a two-month, one-man tour, spread from warm rain, the day after its release. This tour included a date in Paris, France.
After touring throughout the fall, the band announced three releases for the beginning of 2008: their first maxi-single 虹の色, released January 16, their second maxi-single gaze, released February 6, and their debut full-length album and hate, released March 5. They went on another one-man tour throughout May.
the studs announced another triple release, this time in three consecutive weeks, in October 2008. They would be going on a one-man tour called creepy crawly in the fall and release the maxi-singles “クリーピークローリー” (Creepy Crawly), “あの音” (Ano Oto), and “帳” (Tobari) on Oct. 1, 8, and 15, respectively. “Creepy Crawly” ranked #3 on the Oricon indies chart in the second week of October. They continued touring through the fall until December 3 when they released another single, “スパイダーネスト”/”闇のち雨.” This single reached #7 on Oricon two weeks following its release.
