When It Started (2:55)

Cover of Is This It

From Is This It and 16 other releases

This song replaced the original releases song ” New York City Cops “. It was said this replacement occurred only on U.S. releases because of the September 11th attacks in 2001 close to the release of the album in the US.
The vinyl release retained the original track list and it also appears in the film Spider-Man as well as the film’s soundtrack.

This song is phenomenal. It's more understated than even a lot of Is This It, but I don't think that detracts from its greatness in the slightest. If anything, it adds to it.

I had the european version of Is This It and gave it to a friend. Then, on the other side of the ocean I bought the US version with this track instead of NYC cops. I feel betrayed. I'll sneak into my friend's house and get that flipping record back.

saying it's weakest on ITI doesn't mean you think it's a bad song; I'd agree that it's probably the weakest on the album but only because the album is packed full of incredible songs and this is still amazing

Been listening to ITI for a few years on my iTunes, and only just realised the song I have been listening to is called 'New York City Cops', and this tag was just a fucking lie.

If this is the weakest song of the album then all it does is serve as an example of how fucking awesome The Strokes are, because this song is stellar.
