  • Best shows of 2006. Woohoo.

    9 Jan 2007, 09:21 by ohmygoodness

Okay I know I'm a little late here but I'm going to now do my annual.. "Best shows of 2006" list thing. Woohoo

Okay to start things off I'll start off with the first show I went to in 2006.

    Goldfinger & Reel Big Fish
@ the Croation Cultural Centre on Jan 6th.
Zebrahead played too but they weren't that great. Reel Big Fish and Goldfinger were really good. Totally brought back memories of 8th grade. It was some good times.

    Coldplay
@ GM Place on Jan 27th.
I don't remember who opened but Coldplay were really, REALLY good. They normally put me to sleep (sad to say) but their live show was awesome. Lots of balloons, lots of lazers not to mention rad Johnny Cash covers to boot!

    Relient K
@ Croation Cultural Centre on Feb 24th.
Relient K is one of my guilty pleasures and they were really good live. There were a lot of Christian youth groups there and they knew all the words. But anyways, Relient K were good and deserve the attention finally.

  • My 2006 Gig Reviews

    31 Aug 2006, 15:28 by 1ndieRock

24.10.06 - Mobius Band (w/Baby Dayliner & PostPrior) @ Magic Stick, Detroit MI
Definitely the better of the 2 Mobius Band gigs. Check back later for more.

    22.10.06 - Mobius Band (w/Baby Dayliner & Minor Fall) @ Mac's Bar, Lansing MI
This gig was a last-minute reschedule for the cancelled Temple Club show. Check back later for more.

13.10.06 - We Are Scientists (w/Art Brut & The Spinto Band) @ Magic Stick, Detroit MI
This was my second time this year seeing We Are Scientists...this time at my home venue! Again, they played an amazing set: all the old faves, a few new songs, lots of between-song comic relief...and the Spinto Band as guest dancers for WAS's cover of Bang Bang Rock & Roll! This show was the closest thing to a festival gig that I've seen at the Stick.
    (Check back for more)

    26.09.06 - Cursive (w/The Thermals & Ladyfinger) @ Magic Stick, Detroit MI
I only went to see The Thermals because I've never really been much into Cursive. …

Roy Ayers - Guvernment - Funk Night! with Kush

Four Tet - Horseshoe - should be a fine electro show with Hot Chip also on the bill.

Deadly Snakes - Lee's Palace - This is a CD Release party.

The Gossip - XPace - Should be a good show with We Are Wolves

    T. Raumschmiere - Mod Club - Electro Goodness!

Fembots - Supermarket - Was naming your band after an Austin Powers concept a great idea?
