Golden Brown (3:28)
From Greatest Hits 1977-1990 and 272 other releases
The Stranglers - “Golden Brown” (Dec ‘81, Liberty), is a track (first released on 7”, then on the ”La Folie” album, the same month), with much controversy surrounding it’s lyrics. “The Stranglers Song By Song” (Hugh Cornwell’s book), states: “‘Golden Brown’ works on two levels - It’s about heroin & also about a girl”. Essentially, the lyrics describe how “both provided me with pleasurable times.”

The Stranglers – Golden Brown
Golden brown texture like sun
Lays me down with my mind she runs
Throughout the night
